What Expecting Mothers Should Consider Before Booking a Disney Trip
- How far along will you be in your pregnancy? What trimester and how you are feeling can make a big difference for your vacation. If you’re in your first trimester dealing with morning sickness, you need to factor in lots of breaks and what will make you most comfortable. If you’re in your third trimester, it may be a lot on your back and feet. You’ll need to factor in places to rest and also know where restrooms are because you’ll be peeing…. a lot.
- Did the Doctor clear me? Your doctor will have the best medical advice for you. In most cases, your second trimester is your cut-off for flying. Regardless, make sure you consult with your doctor to ensure you’re being safe.
- What is important to me when visiting Walt Disney World?
- What time of year am I going? If temperatures are too hot, it can be dangerous for your baby. I would skip the summer months and not risk it.
Tips for Visiting Disney World While Pregnant
Know Where the First Aid Centers Are
Always know where the nearest first aid center is located in each park for any immediate medical needs or assistance during your visit. You can find this on the My Disney Experience app or just grab a free park map on your way into the parks.
Prioritize Comfort
First things first, comfort is key! Wear comfortable shoes (Birkenstocks, Tevas, Crocs) and loose, light clothing. Disney World involves a lot of walking, so you’ll want to be as comfy as possible. And don’t forget a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the Florida sun.
Stay Hydrated and Take Breaks
It’s super important to stay hydrated, especially in the heat. Carry a water bottle with you, or stop at the free water fountains and take frequent breaks. There are plenty of shaded areas and benches to rest. Plus, it’s a great excuse to enjoy some of the slower-paced attractions!
Know the Safe Rides
Not all rides are suitable for expectant mothers, so check the ride restrictions beforehand. But don’t worry, there’s still plenty to enjoy, like ‘It’s a Small World,’ ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ and various shows and parades.
Use the Baby Care Centers
Disney World has Baby Care Centers in each park. They’re a great place to take a break in an air-conditioned space with comfy seating and private areas.
Listen to Your Body
Lastly, and most importantly, listen to your body. If you’re feeling tired or overwhelmed, it’s totally okay to head back to the hotel for a nap or a swim in the pool. Remember, taking care of yourself is the top priority!
What To Do While Pregnant at Disney World
Exploring Disney World while expecting can be an adventure filled with special moments and unique experiences. To make the most out of it, here are some fun things you can do that you wouldn’t typically do if you weren’t pregnant. Whether you’re seeking comfort, relaxation, or just some fun, these suggestions are tailored to ensure you and your little one have a fantastic time!
Rent a Scooter
Don’t knock the scooter until you hear me out, okay?
My husband once got food poisoning on a Disney vacation. Once he felt okay, he was still so weak that he couldn’t walk around, so we rented him a scooter.
So, if getting a scooter is going to make you comfortable and your trip run smoother, please don’t hesitate to do it. Expectant mothers need to take care of themselves first!
Pricing Estimate:
- The daily rate is $50, plus a refundable $20 deposit.
- If you are going to the water parks and Disney Springs, the daily rate is $50, with a refundable $100 deposit.
Quick Facts:
- You can’t reserve a scooter. They are first-come, first-serve
- Scooters are transferable between all locations
- You must be 18 years of age to rent and operate a scooter
- A Photo ID is required
- The maximum weight is 450 pounds
I know this is not the best pic, but it’s all I’ve got from the infamous food poisoning trip. This is what the scooter looks like. The basket is a nice touch, and acts as a communal seat sometimes ?

Get a Massage
Have you heard about the Senses Spas at Disney World? They’re these amazing little oases of calm right in the middle of all the Disney magic! Located at the
Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs Resorts, and even the Swan and Dolphin Resorts, they’re perfect for us moms-to-be.
Seriously, after a full day at the parks, their prenatal massages are a godsend. They focus on easing those typical pregnancy aches like back pain, and oh, the foot massages are heavenly for tired feet!
Trust me, your dogs will be barking after a park day.
And let me tell you, stepping into a Senses Spa is like entering a whole new world. It’s so tranquil and soothing – just what you need when you’re feeling all the pregnancy fatigue. Forewarning: it is a bit of a splurge, but it is totally worth it for that level of pampering and relaxation.
It’s not just a massage; it’s like a mini-vacation from your vacation. So, if you’re planning a Disney trip while pregnant, definitely consider treating yourself to some downtime at the Senses Spas. You won’t regret it!
Snacks and Drinks
One thing Disney is known for is their food and drinks. So prepare yourself for a culinary adventure, especially when it comes to snacks and drinks. Disney’s known for its fantastic food offerings, and you’re in for a treat!
First, you’ve got to check out the mocktails at Disney. There are SO many fun non-alcoholic drinks to choose from. From LeFou’s Brew at Gaston’s Tavern to POG juice and Jabba Juice at Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge, the options are seriously endless.
And hey, while you’re at it, why not plan a snack crawl using the monorail or Skyliner to hop between resorts? It’s such a fun idea!
Disney’s famous snacks like Dole Whip, churros, Mickey ice cream bars, Jack Jack Nom Nom cookies… the list is endless! I suggest making a list of your top five snacks and top five drinks to try while at Disney. That way, you can check them off as you go and make it a game.

So, since you’re eating for two, why not crown yourself the snack queen of your Disney vacation? And remember, the fun isn’t just limited to the parks; Disney resorts are treasure troves of delicious eats.
Announcement Photo Ops
The photo ops at Disney are endless, so why not take advantage of a cute baby announcement or gender reveal.
A photo op at Disney is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of your Memory Maker. This is an additional add-on, but there are so many places to get your picture taken that it’s worth it for professional photos. Plus, they do really fun magic photos, too.
You will have professional photos that you can always cherish. Here are three of my favorite ideas that I’ve seen:
- Get a free button that reads “1st visit”, pin it by your growing belly, and have a cast member take your photo. You could also get a button to read something else, such as “celebrating becoming a mom” or something along those lines.
- If you already know your baby’s name, you can have it embroidered on a set of Mickey ears. If you don’t know your baby’s name, share your due date. It can be a cute keepsake and a fun decoration for the nursery. Snap a pic in front of the castle with it.
- Etsy also has some cute Disney-inspired pregnancy shirts. I love the “Snacking for Two” tee with all of the most popular Disney treats on the shirt. Grab yourself your favorite Disney snacks and have a cast member take your photo with all of your snacks.
Character Meet and Greets
Don’t overlook the character meet and greets for capturing fun, memorable belly pics. These encounters are such cute and unique moments to interact with your favorite Disney characters who go above and beyond to make special moments even more magical. Imagine sharing a laugh with Mickey or getting a gentle pat from Minnie on your baby bump – the photos will be so stinkin’ cute!
Beyond just cute photos, these meet and greets can become treasured stories you’ll tell your child one day. Picture Goofy making silly faces to entertain your unborn baby or Donald Duck playfully interacting with you. You could recreate the pic each year while your child grows up.
These interactions add a personal touch to your Disney experience and make for an unforgettable part of your Disney journey.
Wrapping Up: Disney Parks While Pregnant
And there you have it – my top tips for making the most out of your Disney trip while pregnant! As you can see, there are plenty of things you can still do while keeping you and your child in good health.
Being pregnant doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the magic of Disney World. You might not be hopping on any thrill rides like Space Mountain. Still, instead, it’s all about enjoying the experience in a new and different way.
Take it easy; indulge the special memories with belly pics and announcement photos. This might be your last Disney adventure before your little one arrives, so it’s the perfect time to soak in every moment and have a great time!
