Simply put, this benefit allows Disney resort guests to enter select parks 30 minutes before they open to the general public.
No matter what Disney resort you are staying at, you’ll get to start your day in the parks ahead of all other guests.
So why does this matter? In one word—crowds.
Disney parks are known for their long lines, especially for the most popular attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
By getting in early, you can knock out a few must-do rides before the masses even step foot in the park. This can make a huge difference in your day, especially if you’re visiting during peak times or have younger kids who can’t wait in lines for too long.
Early entry gives you a head start, and that extra 30 minutes can mean the difference between riding Slinky Dog Dash with a minimal wait or spending an hour in line.

There are two different types you can get:
- Lightning Lane Multi Pass – Allows Lightning Lane access to multiple attractions across all four parks. It is priced per person per day. The pricing varies based on park and date)
- Lightning Lane Single Pass – The single passes are for the most popular rides per park. In order to access their Lightning Lanes, you need to pay per person for each ride individually.
So, for instance, if you want to skip the lines for most rides, plus want to go on, say, Guardians of the Galaxy, you will need to purchase both the multi pass for each person in your party, along with a single pass for each person in your party.
Available for purchase via the My Disney Experience app, Lightning Lane passes allow you to reserve access to some of Disney’s most popular attractions. The catch? They’re limited, and they go fast.
Which is why staying on property is such an advantage!
Onsite guests can book three Individual Lightning Lanes 7 days prior to their upcoming vacation.
This early booking window can make all the difference when trying to secure a spot on headliners like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Slinky Dog Dash.
By the time offsite guests get a chance to book, those coveted spots are often gone.
How Do You Maximize Lightning Lanes?
I recommend prioritizing your top must-do rides when booking your Individual Lightning Lanes.
- Get online RIGHT when your booking time opens up
- Make sure you have your list of rides you want MOST, and try to book those before others.
If Star Wars is your thing, go for Rise of the Resistance first—it’s one of the most popular attractions in all of Walt Disney World. And if you’re a fan of thrill rides, don’t miss out on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
By staying on Disney property, you’re giving yourself the best shot at experiencing these attractions without spending a lot of time in line.
Advanced Dining Reservations

You’ll just log into your MDE app to reserve dining.
This is a huge time-saver and gives you a leg up on securing those hard-to-get spots at popular Disney restaurants like ‘Ohana, Be Our Guest, or Cinderella’s Royal Table.
Imagine having your entire dining plan set before you even arrive—yes, please!
Now, let’s talk strategy.

The best way to maximize this perk is to place your most challenging reservations, the ones that are notoriously tough to get, toward the end of your trip.
Why?
Because the later in your stay, the fewer guests are competing for those same slots.
For example, if you’ve been dreaming of dinner at ‘Ohana or breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace, try booking those for the last few days of your trip. This increases your chances of snagging a table at these coveted spots.
And don’t forget to consider the Disney Dining Plan if it’s available during your visit. Using your credits strategically for those more expensive meals can make your dining experience even more valuable.
Offsite guests, unfortunately, don’t have this booking advantage.
They can only book their dining reservations one day at a time, 60 days out from each day of their visit.
This means they’re often left with fewer choices, especially for popular restaurants.
So, while staying at a non-Disney hotel might save you a few bucks in other areas, when it comes to dining, on-site hotels offer a significant edge.
The convenience and peace of mind that comes with knowing your dining plans are secured well in advance is priceless, especially when you’re trying to make the most of your Walt Disney World vacation.
Extended Evening Hours for Deluxe Resort Guests
Another perk is extending evening hours. Although they only pertain to Deluxe resort guests, it’s still a really cool bonus to staying on property!
What Are Extended Evening Hours?
If you’re staying at one of Disney’s deluxe resorts or deluxe villas, you’re in for a special treat—Extended Evening Hours.
This perk allows you to stay in select Disney theme parks for a couple of extra hours after they close to the general public on select nights.
It’s like having a private after-hours event, and trust me, it’s worth every penny.
So, why is this such a big deal?
For one, the parks are significantly less crowded during these extended hours. Many families with younger kids or those staying off-site have already called it a day, which means shorter lines and a more relaxed pace for you.
Imagine riding Space Mountain or strolling through World Showcase at night with hardly any crowds. It’s a whole different experience when the parks are quieter and cooler, giving you a chance to soak in the magic without the daytime hustle.
From my own experience, these extended evening hours are a game-changer.
On our last trip, we stayed at Disney’s Beach Club and took full advantage of this perk.
We managed to ride some rides we couldn’t get on earlier TWICE in a row without any significant wait and even scored a late-night snack at Sleepy Hollow with no line.

The same goes for Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, which offers easy access to both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Not having to wait for transportation or deal with parking fees is a huge time-saver and a stress reliever, especially when you’ve got little ones in tow.

But even if your resort isn’t within walking distance, Disney’s got you covered with an impressive transportation network.
Buses, monorails, the Disney Skyliner, and boats connect you to all the Disney World parks, water parks, and Disney Springs.
For instance, the monorail connects several resorts with Magic Kingdom and Epcot, making it easy to hop from your hotel to the parks.
The Disney Skyliner, a gondola system, provides scenic and efficient transportation between select hotels like Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and parks like Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Save Money By Renting Disney Vacation Points
If Disney isn’t running any promotions you can take advantage of, consider renting Disney Vacation Club (DVC) points! I do this almost exclusively now, and it has always been such a smooth process.
You’ll get to enjoy Disney’s deluxe resorts at a fraction of the cost. In fact, I just rented DVC points for my upcoming trip and saved around $1,000 for a four-night stay.
What does renting DVC points mean?
- DVC is Disney’s timeshare program. Members purchase a certain number of points, which they can use to stay at various Disney resorts.
- Not all DVC members use their points every year. Instead of letting these points go to waste, they can rent them out to others. When you rent DVC points, you basically pay a DVC member to book a room on your behalf using their points.
- It’s important to plan ahead, as availability can be limited. You also need to be flexible with your dates and resort preferences. Renting points is generally non-refundable, so it’s less flexible than a standard hotel booking. I would try booking out no less than 6 months in advance.

If you’re considering staying off Disney property but still want some of the perks that come with a Disney vacation, Good Neighbor Hotels might be the perfect compromise.
These hotels are not owned by Disney, but they are approved by Disney for their quality, location, and service.
There are around 45 Good Neighbor Hotels that offer a range of options, from budget-friendly to luxury stays, and are typically located near Walt Disney World, making them convenient for park visits.
While they don’t have the same level of Disney theming as the Disney-owned resorts, they are still great options for families who want to be close to the magic without the full Disney price tag.
Perks They Offer
One of the biggest perks of staying at a Good Neighbor Hotel, like the Swan and Dolphin, is that you can enjoy some of the same benefits as Disney resort hotel guests without paying the extra cost of staying in a Disney-owned resort.
For instance, guests at these hotels can book advanced dining reservations and take advantage of Disney transportation, including the buses and boats that run between the parks and the hotels.
Some Good Neighbor Hotels even offer Extra Magic Hours or early entry to the parks, which is a fantastic benefit when you want to hit those popular attractions without waiting in long lines.
Additionally, many of these hotels participate in affiliate advertising programs with Disney, offering deals and packages that can make your stay even more affordable.
