One of the most fun and also nerve-racking things about planning a Disney trip is scoring those hard-to-get Disney dining reservations. If you’ve planned a Disney vacation before, you know what I’m talking about!
So, if you’re planning your next trip to Walt Disney World and wondering about unique dining experiences, Epcot’s Restaurant Space 220 should definitely be on your radar.
You’ll be dining in outer space, complete with views from space down to Earth as you orbit!
This isn’t your usual theme park eatery; it’s a full-blown adventure that starts with a “space elevator” transporting you to the Centauri Space Station. I’ll get more into that part in a minute.
So far it sounds pretty cool, right?
Just wait… it gets better!
What is Space 220?
Space 220 is one of Epcot’s newest restaurants, nestled next to the Mission Space attraction. To play into the space theme, it offers a truly unique and immersive experience that feels like you’ve boarded a station in the cosmos.
Once you check in, you’ll get a “boarding pass” and head into the space elevator where your journey officially begins.
You’ll ascend into orbit, complete with visuals that make you feel like you’re truly leaving Earth behind. It’s really a cool experience!
As someone who easily gets motion sick, the visual of launching into space didn’t effect me much. So, if you also get motion sick, you don’t have much to worry about. If anything, you can just look away from the screen.
While walking into the restaurant, there’s a really cool circular hydroponic garden you’ll pass.
Once you arrive into “space” and head into the restaurant, the space-themed ambiance continues with panoramic views of outer space looking down at Earth, which you can see from every seat in the house.
Some of the screen wasn’t working on our last visit, which I originally didn’t think would be a big deal, however it really did make a difference in the ambiance and immersiveness. Typically, there are astronauts floating around and a little more going on. It was still cool, but not a realistic without the additional screen effects.

What is the Space 220 Dining Experience Like?
Now that we know what experience to expect, what about the food?
The menu is honestly just as exciting, featuring starters like ‘Blue Moon Cauliflower,’ ‘Big Bang Burrata,’ and entree options ranging from ‘Slow Rotation Short Rib’ to ‘Galactic Miso Salmon.’
It’s important to note that it is a prix fixe menu. Here’s what you’ll get for lunch and dinner:
Lunch has a two-course prix fixe menu:
- Adults select one Lift-Off (Appetizer) + a Star Course option (Entrée)
- Kids select one Star Course (Entrée) + a Supernova Sweet (Dessert) + and a Celestial beverage (Drink)
Dinner is a three-course meal:
- Adults select one of each: Lift-Offs (Appetizer) + Star Course (Entrée) + Supernova Sweets (Dessert)
- Kids select one of each: Lift-offs (Appetizer) + Star Course (Entrée) + Supernova Sweets (Dessert) + Celestial Beverages (Drink)
Now to review the food.
First, I want to note that it’s a lot of food to get through. My stomach hurt, but it was a pricey meal, so I was a trooper and ate until I almost had to be rolled out. Drinks were fantastic!
For my starter I got the Blue Moon Cauliflower sans bleu cheese. The cauliflower was so good! If you’re a buffalo sauce lover like me, then don’t pass this up as your starter. If you like bleu cheese, I’m sure it would be even better with that on top. I can’t believe it but I forgot to take a picture of it!
The star course selection was the 8oz filet mignon with mashed potatoes and carrots. It wasn’t out of this work, but very good nonetheless.
My supernova sweets pick chocolate gelato for dessert. The gelato was good, but very rich. I would have liked to have ordered a different dessert, but I was so dang full, I was just trying to go with a lighter option.
My son got the fruit bowl, which was your basic pineapple, watermelon, melon, cantaloupe. It was fresh and he enjoyed it.
His entree was a cheeseburger and dessert was vanilla gelato.
Drink are an additional cost, but they are really good! My son got the souvenir cup, and LOVES it. He still uses it at home all of the time.
I got the M4RG4R1TA for $18 which is Espolon Blanco Tequila, Watermelon Lime Sour, Salted Lime Foam. It was so good, and the tequila was not overpowering
Kids will also get these fun little trading cards after their meal. It’s a cute little touch and something fun for your kids to do with their siblings or friends.
So, was the food good?
Honestly, all the food was great, but it was a lot. I didn’t finish the steak… although I gave it my best effort. So, once dessert came, I went for the lighter option of gelato, but didn’t make it too far.
Both my mom and son felt the same way. Great food, just hard to finish.
How Much Does a Meal Cost at Space 220?
Okay, so fair warning, this is not a cheap meal. What is nice though is that Space 220 has a prix-fixe menu, so you’ll know when booking what to expect once the bill comes.
When I went, pricing was as follows:
- Lunch is $55 for adults and $29 for kids
- Dinner is $79 for adults and $35 for kids
Compared to other themed dining, this is expensive. Take Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ over at Hollywood Studios for instance. This is also a newer restaurant, and is obviously Toy Story themed. It also has a prix-fixe menu. Here, though, it’s only $45 per adult and $25 per child.
So with this comparison, you can definitely see it is on the pricier end of themed dining experiences. It’s something to keep in mind, if you are looking to watch what you spend at restaurants.
How Do I Make Reservations at Space 220?
There are a few ways you can make reservations at this restaurant. Let’s go over them!
First thing to cover is the traditional way of scoring a reservation. For booking reservations, you’ll want to be online and ready to go immediately at 6 am, 60 days prior to your trip. This is when reservations will open up for you. You can make dining reservations through the Disney app.
Space 220 can be a pretty hard reservation to land, but I have a few really great tips to share with you, if you don’t get a reservation at the 60-day mark.
- Consider making a Space 220 lounge reservation instead of the main area. The lounge is in the inner portion of the restaurant that is away from the windows. You’ll still be able to see the view though. The menu is also a bit more limited, but the plus is it isn’t prix fixe. So, basically, you’ll still get the whole experience, just in a more casual setting.
- You can actually join a walk-up waitlist for this! head to the restaurants front desk, and ask to be added to the list. It’s that simple!
- Another thing you can do is use a dining reservation finding service. You’ll want to make sure to check out my full breakdown of how to score any dining reservation here.
- You can also go to the front desk of the restaurant and see if any reservations have opened up. You’ll be surprised at how often reservations pop up throughout the day.
Is Space 220 Worth Trying?
So, do I think it’s worth it? Yes, and no. I think it’s worth trying at least one, but not a must-do every time you visit. Let’s break it down.
Pros:
- The food is good
- The ambiance is really neat, unique, immersive experience
- It’s exciting especially for kids
Cons:
- It’s expensive
- It’s hard to finish all of the food
- Dining reservation might require some planning ahead via the My Disney Experience app
So when it comes down to it, while the experience is definitely top-notch, whether it justifies the cost depends on how much you value the uniqueness and theming of your dining adventures.
If you’re a foodie looking for exceptional culinary quality or someone who loves novel experiences, Space 220 is a great option. For those on a tighter budget or with very young kids, you might weigh if the ‘space experience’ aligns with your family’s needs and expectations.
