Planning a day at Epcot for your family is really exciting, but can also be confusing if you don’t know enough about the park. 

As one of Walt Disney World’s most expansive parks, Epcot offers a unique combination of rides, attractions, cultural experiences, and immersive entertainment that appeals to visitors of all ages. 

In this guide, I’ll share two curated one-day itineraries for Epcot that are perfect for small families, along with some insider planning tips to help you minimize wait times and navigate the park like a pro.

Epcot’s Layout Overview

Epcot is divided into two primary sections: World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature (formerly known as Future World), and World Showcase. You’ll want to know the lay of the land ahead of your visit to help you navigate your way around.

I’ll break them down a little more about what you can expect in each spot below:

World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature (Front Half of the Park)

• World Celebration: The center of innovation and inspiration, featuring Spaceship Earth and interactive exhibits that are perfect for curious minds.
• World Discovery: Where space, technology, and adventure come together with rides like Test Track and Mission: SPACE.
• World Nature: A celebration of the Earth’s beauty, with attractions like Soarin’ Around the World and the educational Living with the Land.

World Showcase (Back Half of the Park)

• Mexico Pavilion: Take a boat ride with the Three Caballeros and enjoy the vibrant sights and sounds of Mexican culture.
• Norway Pavilion: Meet Anna and Elsa in this Nordic-inspired pavilion and hop aboard Frozen Ever After for a magical adventure.
• China Pavilion: Explore ancient temples, catch the stunning Reflections of China film, and meet Mulan.
• Germany Pavilion: Stroll through a charming German village and enjoy pretzels, bratwurst, and plenty of sweet treats.
• Italy Pavilion: Feel like you’re in Venice or Rome as you indulge in pasta, pizza, and the stunning architecture.
• The American Adventure Pavilion: Celebrate the history of the U.S. with live performances and an impressive animatronic show.
• Japan Pavilion: Immerse yourself in Japanese culture with traditional gardens, sushi, and unique shopping experiences.
• Morocco Pavilion: Discover the exotic beauty of Morocco with intricate mosaics, flavorful cuisine, and rich cultural details.

Planning Tips for Epcot

Before we get into the itineraries, here are some insider tips to help you plan a smooth and enjoyable day at Epcot:

• Arrive Early and Take Advantage of Early Entry. If you’re staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can enter the park 30 minutes before it opens to regular guests with Early Theme Park Entry. This extra time can make a serious difference for experiencing some of the most popular attractions before the crowds arrive. If you’re not staying on Disney property, aim to arrive at least 20 to 30 minutes before the official opening time for rope drop to beat the crowds.
• Use Lightning Lanes to Minimize Wait Times. Purchase Disney’s Multi-Pass and Individual Lightning Lanes to cut down wait times. It significantly reduces your time spent in standby lines, which in my opinion, makes it worth the extra money. So if you don’t want log waits, this is a must. Prioritize booking Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Test Track—these are typically the busiest attractions at Epcot.
• Plan for Breaks and Take Advantage of Indoor Attractions. Epcot is one of the largest parks at Walt Disney World, so be sure to plan for rest breaks. The park has many indoor attractions like The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Spaceship Earth, and Living with the Land that provide a great opportunity to cool off and take a break from the Florida sun.
• Use Mobile Order for Quick Service Meals. Skip the lines at busy food locations by using the My Disney Experience app to place a Mobile Order. This is especially useful during peak meal times when lines at quick-service restaurants can be long. Locations like Sunshine Seasons and Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie offer Mobile Order options, saving you time and energy.
• Consider Making Dining Reservations in Advance. If you’re planning to enjoy a sit-down meal at one of Epcot’s table service restaurants, you’ll definitely want to make your reservations in advance. Popular options like Garden Grill Restaurant, Teppan Edo, and Space 220 can book up quickly, especially during the busy seasons. 
• Take Advantage of Kidcot Fun Stops. Epcot’s World Showcase offers Kidcot Fun Stops, where kids can collect activity cards and learn more about each country. It’s a great way to engage younger children as you explore the different pavilions and add a fun educational aspect to your day.

Insider Tip: It’s good to note that ALL of Epcot does not open at rope drop. Although you can walk through World Showcase, the shops and most restaurants typically don’t open until around 11am.

Okay, let’s get right into these fun itineraries. The first one is geared more towards families with younger kids, and the second will cater more toward your thrill seekers.

Morning

• Ride The Seas with Nemo & Friends and explore the aquarium at SeaBase.
• Catch Turtle Talk with Crush for an interactive show, and then head to Journey Into Imagination with Figment.
• Experience Soarin’ Around the World, followed by a relaxing boat ride on Living with the Land.
• Head to World Showcase for Frozen Ever After in the Norway Pavilion, followed by meeting Anna and Elsa at their Royal Sommerhus.
• Visit the Character Spot to meet Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy.

Afternoon

• Have a quick-service lunch at Sunshine Seasons inside The Land Pavilion.
• Explore the World Showcase, stopping at Kidcot Fun Stops.
• Enjoy a sweet treat at L’Artisan des Glaces in the France Pavilion.
• If staying on Disney property or nearby, consider heading back to your hotel for a nap or pool time.

Evening

• Ride Gran Fiesta Tour
• Dine at Garden Grill Restaurant for a character meal with Chip ‘n’ Dale. An alternative is Via Napoli.
• Ride Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion
• Live music at the United Kingdom Pavilion
• Fireworks!

Insider Tip: Make sure if you are going during festival season, which is almost year-round at this point, you factor that in. Sometimes certain days during a festival can get more crowded. 

Alternate Epcot 1-Day Itinerary

Morning

• Head straight to Spaceship Earth in teh front of the park for a relaxing and even educational journey through human communication.
• Ride Test Track followed by Mission: SPACE.
• Then hit up Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (you’ll need an Individual Lightning Lane or get in a virtual queue for this one!)

Afternoon

• Walk through Moana: Journey of Water
• Lunch at Space 220 or Connections
• Experience Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, 
• Stroll through the pavilions of the World Showcase and participate in the Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure for an interactive scavenger hunt experience.
• Enjoy the films in the Canada and China Pavilions. You can also go watch The American Adventure in the American Pavilion.
• If staying on Disney property or nearby, consider heading back to your hotel for a nap or pool time.

Evening

• Go to Norway to Frozen Ever After
• Get dinner at Teppan Edo or La Hacienda
• Head on out of World Showcase and do Soarin’ Around the World
• Before you leave the Land pavilion, make sure to do Living with the Land. There is hardly ever a line, and it’s a really great water ride!
• Fireworks! Find a spot to watch fireworks to end the night.
