How to Use Disney’s Mobile Order

If you’re planning a Disney World Vacation, you’ll want to make sure you understand dining options in the parks. One option in particular is mobile order pick up.
Mobile ordering is a service offered through the My Disney Experience app that allows guests of Walt Disney World to order and pay for their meals ahead of time at many of the quick service locations on property.
if you aren’t familiar, don’t panic. I’m here to prepare you, and make you a mobile food ordering pro.
We’ll cover everything you need to know to be successful when using mobile ordering at Disney World including participating restaurants, a step by step tutorial in the app, plus some bonus tips and tricks to use the app to best fit your agenda and travel style!
Participating Disney Mobile Order Restaurants
There are more than 65 quick service restaurants participating in mobile ordering across the property including at the water parks, Disney Springs and Walt Disney World Resorts but today we are focusing just on the four theme parks.

Why Use Mobile Ordering?
You may be wondering “If I can walk up to a restaurant and place my order, what is the point of using mobile ordering?”
Well, I’m here to answer that for you.
There are a lot of great benefits to utilizing the mobile ordering feature that could make some big differences in your Disney experience.
Here are the top reasons to always use mobile ordering instead of walk-up:
- Efficiency: First and foremost, depending on the time of day and popularity of your restaurant choice, you can spend a good amount of time simply waiting in line to place your order. Mobile ordering will allow you to visit the restaurant during your order window and bypass the line heading straight to the mobile order station to pick up your order.
- Food substitutions/modifications: If you have picky eaters in your family and need to make a lot of modifications to your meals, sometimes it’s a little easier to make those changes within the app than trying to explain them to the cast member taking your order.
- Allergy/Food Sensitivities: Ordering with the app will allow you to see allergy friendly foods/choices. You can also see options within the restaurant but many times you have to ask the Cast Members for this information. Ordering ahead will allow you the time to really look at options and see what works best for your diet.
- Photo food gallery: This is a huge bonus for us! When browsing the menus in the Disney mobile ordering feature, you will not only be able to see your options and read descriptions but you can also see photos of each item so you know just what to expect as you place your order.
- Planning ahead: With mobile ordering you’re able to not only order for the nearest time available, but you can also order ahead and schedule a specific window of time you’d like to eat. This is a great idea if you are someone that likes to plan out your day. You do not have to be on site to place your order and it can be done before the park opens for the day! For example, If you know you want to eat lunch between 12:30-1:00 pm you can place your order in the morning ahead of time and then simply head to the restaurant during your selected arrival window and you will be ready to go come lunch time.
Step By Step Instructions To Place A Mobile Order
Okay, now that you have the basics of why you should mobile order, let’s get you ready to do it! Follow these steps below, and you’ll be on your way to placing your fist mobile order at Disney World!
Step 1: Open your My Disney Experience App
Step 2: Select “order food”
Step 3: Select your park and choose from available quick service dining restaurants.
Step 4: Select your arrival window, you may select “soonest available” or “schedule for later”. If you schedule for later, you’ll see times pop up.
Step 5: Browse the menu and make your selections – as you scroll through options you will be able to click specific items and see more details including what the item consists of and what is included with your meal as far as sides and beverages.
Step 6: Check out paying with Disney Gift Card (note: if paying with a GC you will need to enter the card number each time you place an order, a great tip is type your number into a text or notes app on your phone so you can simply copy and paste throughout the day and avoid the need to pull out your card each time), Disney Rewards Redemption Card, Credit Card, or Apple Pay.
Step 7: When you arrive at your selected restaurant, choose “I’m here, prepare my order” in your app.
Step 8: The app will notify you when your order is ready and which mobile order station to visit to receive your food. Enjoy!
Tips and Tricks for Mobile Ordering:
- Utilize filters: there are a number of filters throughout the app that will allow you to select location, types of meals, as well as dietary restrictions and preferences. This will help to cut through some of the stuff you don’t want to see and provide you only with the info that will benefit you. This will make ordering much simpler and to the point!
- Hit “prepare my order” on your way to the restaurant: Try to time your order so that it’s ready for pickup as soon as you arrive at the restaurant. Typically if it’s not a peak dining time your order will be ready in 5-7 minutes, if it’s a busier time it can take a little longer so just be mindful and try to plan your arrival accordingly. This tip will save you a little time and have you back out in the park ready to ride in no time.
- Changing your arrival window: If you’ve ordered ahead and expected to be dining during one time but something in your plans change and you need to change your arrival window, it’s very easy to do in the app and you can modify as needed. Remember, they don’t prepare your order until you select that button telling them to so there is no need to worry about your food sitting out or getting cold.
- Make sure you have your ID when ordering alcoholic beverages: you are able to order alcoholic beverages via the mobile order feature but please keep in mind that ID may be required upon pickup and if you do not have it, you may not be served any alcohol.
- Don’t worry if you miss your pickup window: This goes back to that step where it is necessary for you to select “prepare my order” before your food is actually made. If you miss your window, you should still be able to choose that prepare option upon your arrival as long as the restaurant is still open for the day. If you miss your window and the restaurant reaches closing time they will atomically cancel your order and refund your charge.
- You can cancel an order when necessary: You may cancel your order at any time up until selecting “I’m here, prepare my order”. Once the restaurant has begun preparing your order, you will no longer be able to cancel and you will be charged regardless if you pick up your food or not.
- Utilize Mobile Ordering for shows/parades: If you plan to have a snack or sweet treat during one of the parades or the fireworks show, it’s a great idea to mobile order ahead of time and pick it up as you snag a spot to view the show. During these popular times lines for snack carts and quick service options can become very long and may cause you to miss the show!
Final Thoughts
Mobile ordering has become a great tool that we frequently utilize during our Disney trips. We find that mobile ordering allows us to have a smooth day with efficiency and is a great way to avoid large crowds during meal times.
